“The Pelicam Health Check was extremely thorough and insightful in exposing areas of the programme we may have otherwise missed.”

Significant complexity and technical integration

The project, MIDOS, involves major elements of technical proving  whereby legacy applications are integrated through a routing engine and communications ‘Head End’ solution with SMART meters (electricity and gas). An industrial strength solution is required in order to reduce the risks associated with the roll-out to 6 million properties, maintain consumer confidence and retain a competitive edge.

In-flight assurance to increase confidence levels

Pelicam were required to deliver a detailed health check across all aspects of the project. In particular, attention was focused on the key issues, risks and proposed remediation looking forward. 40 documents were subject to detailed scrutiny and 25 key stakeholders were interviewed. Pelicam worked collaboratively with E.ON’s senior project executive prior to the development of their own action-plan to address high priority issues. Pelicam also highlighted a number of strategic issues which E.ON faces in its quest to deliver a project of this scale.

Redefined roadmap to increase stability and certainty

  • A more realistic plan was delivered and communicated.

  • Single and dual fuel solutions were proven.

  • Initial roll-out strategy was changed to concentrate on single electricity installations.

  • E.ON is now well positioned to plan the remainder of the project in the light of lessons learnt.
